We are grateful for the opportunity to visit Toyota Research Institute and learn more about the exciting work being done there! We would like to extend our thanks to the people at TRI (and ME331 teaching team) who helped facilitate the coordination of this trip.
The professional committee invited four Stanford Mechanical Engineering alumni across several industries to return to campus and speak on their work experiences. The Social Committee put on a Lego Building Competition with three lego sets as prizes! The theme was vehicles and all participants came up with incredibly creative cars. Our exec and core team had our first informal meeting over Chef's Table at Casper Dining with a menu designed and cooked by Chef Cisco! SUME's first event of the quarter and the year was a professional headshots photoshoot! We hired student photographer Artur Carneiro and opened up slots to the mechanical engineering community to provide free professional photos as they engage in their job search. The Social Committee hosted a finals study night with SOLE (Society of Latinx Engineers)! SUME provided boba and SOLE provided pizza to all students. The Professional Development committee collaborated with CareerEd for a workshop on perfecting your elevator pitch. Daisy Chavez Serrano from CareerEd taught students how to meaningfully network and promote themselves through an impactful elevator pitch. The Academic Development committee hosted a Concentration Night to introduce the Mechanical Engineering undergraduate concentrations, Biomechanical Engineering major, and the ME capstone (ME 170). We would like to thank all the professors that came to speak at our event!
